Fact: The average business has $60,000 worth of computer data and many of them have little or no protection at all.
Fact: It does not take a dramatic natural disaster to make you lose your data. Every day viruses, worms, hard drive crashes, software failures, and theft turn businesses upside down in an effort to recover information and resume operations.
Fact: The average PC data loss can cost more than $2,000 when you consider technical support for recovery, lost productivity, and lost data
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What If We Already Have A Tape Backup System?
Using a tape backup system and an off-site backup system offers the best of both worlds. Critical files, like billing, customer contact files and databases can be kept remotely. Meanwhile, the tape system can be used to create a full backup of the entire system once or twice a month, instead of on a daily basis. The tapes and drive will last longer and require less maintenance. The remote system can provide a quick and easy way to retrieve critical files and databases without the hassle of searching through tapes.
Q: What If We Already Have An External Drive?
Frankly, we believe that it is not optimal for most users to use an external drive or other local disk media for backup. Our backup service is completely automated and has the required file redundancy to protect important data. The only safe way to use an external drive for backup is to have three disks and make the same backup three times, and taking them physically off-site each day. That way when one of the disks fails you are still protected.
Q: Onsite, Offsite–What’s The Difference?
Basically, our backups work like regular tape backups, with one important difference. Instead of sending backups to a tape drive or other media attached to the computer being backed up, our backups send encrypted file data over the internet to a computer file storage system safely off-site. This usually happens at night while your business is closed and nobody is using the computers. It’s completely automatic. In fact, you may forget it’s working every night.
Q: Why Are Backups By Our Service Considered More Beneficial?
The data is immediately stored off-site using an automated backup system. Also, only an internet connection is needed, completely eliminating the need for expensive backup equipment and media. And, since the system is automated, manual labor is eliminated.
Q: How Secure Are Backups By Our Service?
Very. All files are encrypted using Blowfish or DES encryption which is selected by the user with their own personal encryption code which is only known by the user of the system. Blowfish encryption has never been broken by a hacker, and DES is used by the federal banking system.
Q: What Is Encryption?
Encryption is basically a mathematical formula that scrambles a data file, and the only way to unscramble it is with the encryption code.
Our Remote Backup Service Saves The Day
We use the world’s most popular and secure software for our Remote Backup service, which has been securing data for more than 19 years.
Tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, power surges and outages, employee mistakes or sabotage–there are simply too many opportunities to lose your mission-critical data. Our Remote Backup service helps to ensure that your data will survive…even if your computer hardware doesn’t.
Consider for a moment the valuable role that computer data plays in your life and business. Many households and businesses spend hundreds of dollars a month on other, less critical, elective expenses–while leaving their most valuable asset, their data, totally unprotected.

How Our Remote Backup Service Works For Your Business
We operate a full-time, off-site storage facility for your data. An account is maintained for each user. Each account is protected by a password known only to the user.
The electronic vault system is set up so that a preset time, (usually late at night) your computer automatically prepares its data for backup. It determines which files have been modified since the last backup, compresses them, and encrypts them for security. When the data is ready the computer uses its modem or Internet Connection to contact our Remote Backup server and transmit the data.
Our Remote Backup server then verifies and stores the data. You can rest assured that your data is safe for you to restore at any time.
Cost Benefit Analysis Of In-House Vs. Our Remote Backup
Copying data to CDs/DVDs or tapes that are left on premises only insures that some data will be available for restore if the backup media is accessible after a data loss event–and if this data is taken offsite it is usually unencrypted, making it available for viewing and use by virtually anyone that might come into contact with it. Fires usually destroy backup media that are left onsite, and in many cases the affected premises are off-limits to everyone for many days after a fire or other disaster. Proper backups are done automatically, at non-peak business hours, are securely encrypted, are available for restore at any time, and are taken offsite–every night.
Costs For Proper In-House Backup Include:
Assuming that the employee responsible for the backups, removal of media, verifications and restore processes is on a salary of at least $30,000 per year, and using the minimum time dedications outlined above, the cost of properly backing up an SMBs data is about $71.25 per week, $285 per month, and $3,420 per year – not including hardware. If you factor in the cost of true manual ‘rotation’ of backup copies to a secure offsite location using a courier service ($300+ per month) and the aggregate costs associated with restoring data from tapes or the internal costs of managing a single total loss/restore event, the costs of in-house backup can skyrocket to well over double the previous estimate.
Compare this to the our Remote Backup service, operating automatically at non-peak hours, and without imposing on your existing staff or adding hardware or media resources of any type. Typical average charges for our service might be $50-$75 per month, resulting in a minimum cost savings of between $2,520 and $2,820 per year.
